Our Oncology Team

Kasia Purzycka

DVM, MVetMed, MRCVS, DipACVIM (Oncology)
American and RCVS recognised Specialist in Veterinary Oncology

Kasia obtained her veterinary degree in 2014 in Warsaw, Poland after spending four years at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, one year at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a final year at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria.

Following a rotating internship in small animals at the University hospital in Munich, Germany, Kasia moved to the United Kingdom where she completed a specialised oncology internship at the Animal Health Trust referral hospital in Newmarket.

Kasia completed her residency in medical oncology at the Royal Veterinary College in October 2019, and successfully passed the certifying examination of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Oncology in the same year, becoming an American Veterinary Specialist in Oncology. She also completed a master’s degree with the final research project on canine T cell lymphoma.

In addition to her busy clinical activities and providing excellent care to cancer patients, Kasia enjoys teaching interns, residents, general practitioners and veterinary nurses on all aspects of veterinary oncology.

Kasia has presented her research work at multiple conferences in Europe and US. She has lectured for veterinarians across the world, including Poland, US, UK, Austria and Hong Kong.

Onne-Marju Russak

DVM, PgCert, DipECVIM-CA (Oncology), MRCVS RCVS and
EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Oncology

Onne-Marju graduated from the Estonian University of Life Sciences in 2012 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. She began her career in first opinion practice in Estonia, where she developed a strong interest in oncology through caring for pets with cancer and supporting their families.

Her passion for oncology led her to pursue specialist training in the UK, beginning with a rotating internship at the University of Nottingham, where she also earned a postgraduate certificate. This was followed by a dedicated oncology internship at the
Animal Health Trust and a residency in Oncology at Dick White Referrals.

In April 2023, Onne-Marju became a board- certified Specialist in Small Animal Oncology. In her telemedicine role, she hopes to bring the same compassionate and collaborative approach to virtual consultations — working closely with primary care vets to provide personalised, evidence-based guidance that supports each patient’s comfort and quality of life. Her focus is on providing clear, practical advice to support decision-making, whether at the time of diagnosis or during ongoing treatment.

Onne-Marju remains active in scientific research, contributes to peer-reviewed publications, and lectures at international veterinary congresses. She also teaches final-year veterinary students in Estonia and enjoys mentoring future colleagues.
