We are very pleased to announce that we are now offering the new ‘Double Antigen’ Strangles ELISA provided by IDVet.

This new ELISA has been developed to replace the current ‘SeM’ IDVet ELISA, and we will continue to offer both tests until 30th June 2025, after which date the ‘SeM’ ELISA will no longer be available from the manufacturer. Please note that although the new assay is replacing the current ‘SeM’ ELISA it is an A and C ELISA and is reported as a single combined result.

We will be offering the ‘Double Antigen’ ELISA Monday-Friday with a same day turnaround time at the same price as the current SeM ELISA (Test code STRNG).

There has been much debate in recent years over which assay is the preferred choice, and developments in strangles serology testing are continually ongoing with regular review of techniques enabling us to provide the highest quality of service. From our in-house comparisons we are particularly encouraged by the repeatability of the new Double Antigen assay and we are in the process of adding this new assay to our UKAS scope of accreditation.

Further developments in strangles serology testing are expected in the next 6-12 months and we will review new information as it becomes available.
